Notes

Some of the most formative experiences in my life were sparked by cold outreach - my role at 640 Oxford among them. I was curious about the then-shrouded world of VC, and wanted a reason to go to the greatest city in the world, so I messaged a handful of partners from NYC-based funds on a whim.

Brandon once joked that I was lucky I reached out to Adam instead of him - he said he would've ignored it, since most of the stuff on LinkedIn is bullshit. I can't say I disagree. Nonetheless, by sheer serendipity, I started down a path that I frankly did not deserve to be on.

What Adam and Brandon are building at 640 Oxford is incredibly special. They focused on hard-tech before it was cool. They envisioned "American Dynamism" years before a16z announced their interest. But being first is not their only differentiator. I can confidently state that no other fund is as hands-on as 640 Oxford - Adam and Brandon will literally be in the factory with you.

From helping with my fundraise to inviting me to SoHo House, Adam and Brandon have opened doors I didn't even know existed. For some reason, they treated me as someone worth betting on long before I had earned that trust. They've shown me a world I couldn't have imagined a year ago, and just as meaningfully, they've shown me what thoughtful investors look like. I'm deeply grateful to both of them, and I don't take for granted how rare that kind of generosity and conviction truly is.

The most consequential moments in life often arrive disguised as seemingly small decisions - a message sent without expectation, an action taken without asking for permission. We like to believe our paths are deliberate and deserved, but I think the most rewarding ones are paved by a willingness to enter uncertainty and accept whatever follows. So find and take your leap of faith. And remember that chance may open the door, but it's humility, curiosity, and gratitude that let you stay on the other side of it.
